VAP - Veracity Adapter 4.4 release note

We are constantly aiming to create a better experience for you as a VAP user.
The main goals for this release v. 4.4 are found below.

New features in VAP services

  • PDF viewer used in VAP when interacting with PDFs is improved.
A PDF document with links is now clickable.
Search inside the PDF can be done too. Click F5 to use the search functionality in the browser.

  • Viewer used to share public reports without signing in to Veracity, is improved
The viewer* is now available for both Veracity and DNV domains.
It can present PDFs and images, as well as Power BI dashboards.
Web apps are currently not supported. When a publicly enabled entity has a web app included, it will not be available through the viewer. Logging into Veracity and using the standard VAP service will show the web app in the entity.

  • Pass the user’s Veracity token to your web app,
The web app support in VAP is improved to pass the user’s Veracity token to your web app

  • Admin API, new endpoint Get entities in service available
To integrate better with VAP from your developed service, we have exposed a new endpoint.

‘*’ The Viewer : In June we released the Viewer our new VAP product.
It offloads your user doing Veracity sign ups and sign in to interact with publicly available analytics.
It allows you to create a freemium business model. Use a ‘Try it out’ link from the Veracity Marketplace page.

Other topics we have been working on

  • Proof of Concept story - Proven: VAP team knows we can support building a Power BI report inside a service without using Power BI Desktop. Save the report directly in the workspace. Interact with the report and edit it to improve it even more.
Together with Veracity Data Workbench team, we have proved that a user can select a dataset from the workbench and use it to build the report without opening Power BI desktop but embedded in over own service.
  • Investigation story: VAP can support Power Apps used in your Power BI report when shared with users internally in DNV. Power apps can not work when shared with users outside DNV. We have worked with the Microsoft support team. Power Apps visuals are not supported for embedding your customers’ scenarios. They asked us to create an idea/vote on the ideas portal.
  • Automat setup of a VAP service – improved even more.
VAP uses Veracity Resource Management (VRM) when setting up a new service.

Features coming down the pipeline – but cannot be promised

  • Be able to print more than one page of your Power BI report This is a feature stakeholders ask for. Now, a Power BI rest API ‘Export to PDF’ is available that VAP can use.
  • Get a notification if scheduled refresh fails
  • UX update
  • Add open links available for all users of my VAP service
  • ArcGIS map support when VerIT Store is ready for licensing
  • Support Power Apps in Power BI in VAP investigate if the same method as ArcGIS support could be used
  • Support more connection types in Power BI reports
  • Expire date on entity – to support subscription in a limited timeframe
  • Improve integration between another service & VAP – Use VRM - Veracity Resource Management
