This post tries to explain how it’s calculated.
We assume you are working in DNV and have access to the cost matrix. Go to the Intranet and search for VAP. There, you will find a page where the price list is linked.
A VAP service cost consists of two elements, Subscription and consumption.
Some services use API. Are you using APIs, they have an additional subscription cost.

1. Subscription
Subscription of a service has different levels based on the number of external users.
(External users are a non dnv.com email address). It’s a “per-seat license” / “named user license.” -
2. Consumption / Memory load
Based on usage, consumption is calculated retrospectively at the end of the month.
Each report you have created has a different number of pages, a different number of visual elements on a page, and a different amount of data it loads into memory.
Each time a user interacts with a report in your service, it is logged to calculate the consumption cost.
For example, if a user clicks to view the report five times a day, it is logged five times.
Your service usage is calculated, and the cost is distributed between all other VAP services in your capacity location based on each service’s percentage usage. We use a cost-sharing principle and split it based on the monthly fixed cost for the Power BI capacity in the location.
(Location is either US or EU, depending on what was selected when the service was set up.)
The above explanations show why no exact answer can be given upfront about the cost and that the consumption cost can differ each month.
You do not need to give away access to your reports for free

Please be aware that VAP team will never invoice your customer for their consumption cost, we invoice the owner and the project code for each service.
